Pat Rogel, CO, LO, OTR/L, is considered a national expert in the field of cranial remolding treatment. She has provided custom plagiocephaly helmets to infants for over 20 years utilizing the most modern cranial technology available. This amounts to thousands of flat head shapes fixed with one infant helmet. She is very familiar with every style of cranial band used to treat plagiocephaly. After working with many different brands of cranial bands, she has found the STARband to be the most effective. Pat is an industry leader treating head shape abnormalities and a regular lecturer at professional conferences regarding cranial remolding care and improvements in treatment.
40-50% of the babies evaluated at Chicago Pediatric Orthotics do not require helmet treatment.
Pat will perform a thorough evaluation of your baby and honest assessment for the need for outside physical therapy and/or a cranial band. She is very comfortable sending you and baby home without a STARband, but if the baby needs one she will correct the shape with one helmet. Chicago Pediatric Orthotics is not owned by investment bankers - we are caregiver owned. Our staff has no quotas to meet. Free evaluations, including STARscanner evaluation.
Chicago Pediatric Orthotics is one of four STARscanner facilities in the Chicago area. The STARscanner is the fastest cranial technology available to evaluate head shape. One difference is that our scans are FREE! And, our helmet price is MUCH lower.
Plagiocephaly Helmets - Cranial band - Cranial Remolding - Torticollis - Brachycephaly - Flat head - Infant helmet
We will correct plagiocephaly/flat head shape with one cranial band. One STARband.

A STARband cranial remolding helmet has room for growth where it is needed. Other brands are fabricated to the deformed head shape and require weekly visits to adjust the helmet. They also often require multiple helmets to correct a moderate to severe head shape. Chicago Pediatric Orthotics will correct your babies head shape with ONE custom cranial orthosis - otherwise, the cost is on us!
“I could tell from about 8-weeks of age that James may need attention from a physical therapist for what I noticed was a slight preference in head direction. Being that this was a hurdle I had to jump previously with my now 3-year-old, I knew I had to act on it fast. I did not want either of my sons in a helmet. Yet, with James I was not able to avoid this situation as his head was getting flatter and flatter even with weekly PT. This was a scary road I was going down with my son and during a pandemic. Not only was I anxious about my son getting a helmet but adding on doing this during this scary time was very intimidating and caused me a lot of anxiety. However, my experience has been rather calming and not nerve wracking at all. I headed to PR Orthotics (www.Chicago Pediatric Orthotics) with Patricia Rogel and her approach couldn't have been safer and comforting. She took us into a clean and sterile environment and gave us a very stress-free experience! James has been wearing the STARband and there have been no complaints thus far. He seems comfortable in all ways; able to sleep and get through his days better than ever. If you must go down this road with your infant, PR Orthotics in Skokie, IL is definitively the way to go for safe, clean, reliable and a comfortable experience.”
